A Day in the Life of Digital Media – Self

I am an 80s baby raised by parents of the traditional era. Meaning I’m pretty old school new school. Meaning I have a routine and it’s consistent. My routine just so happens to be a digital routine.

My Digitial routine goes a little like this.

I start my day reviewing the news. Reading the Bible. Reading my favorite blogs. Or simply scanning Instagram. Next I will review my daily schedule using my calendar app.

Throughout the day, I use sites like Facebook, Instagram, twitter, and Pinterest the most. Facebook is a social network for microblogging. I use it to keep in contact with friends and family. Instagram is a media sharing network. I use Instagram to stay in the know. Find new trends, creative ideas, follow industry leaders etc. Twitter is a microblogging site. For years twitter has been a information blogging site for me. It’s the only place online that I share industry insights. Pinterest is a media sharing and bookmarking site. I use Pinterest the most. It’s my favorite place to save ideas, create new design palettes, etc. It’s for everything. Pinterest is also the best place to display products for sale. Or blog posts. Posting on Pinterest could be significant for any developing brand wanting to make a lasting impression.

I have a positive reaction to digital media. I do think it can be excessive at times. Although if used properly, it can be an essential resource.

I find that my needs are not satisfied using one type of digital media over another. Instagram and Pinterest are my favorite. I use Instagram to stay in the know and Pinterest to bookmark my findings or brainstorming. Meaning both are used for two different purposes. Therefore, one could not give me a satisfaction over another.

I receive emails from companies all the time. The emails that catch my attention are emails from big name companies or products. I look for mail I can easily identify as junk, in order to get rid of them first. Then I look keywords and highlights of interests.

What I notice most about the use of digital media in marketing today is that its influence based. Meaning the customer or client experience has become the center point of how to brand yourself, a product, a business, and or a brand. The customer experience determines how to advertise to a market.

How you use digital media, Is really up to you. The options are endless.
